I have the exterior hardware for the Sideshifter installed. However, since I am placing the batteries under the dinette, the cables are not heavy enough. My options:

Add to the cables with same size. Total will be about 12’ run
add heavier cables to the original cables, so two different sized cables.
Cut original cables back to where they come through the hull and use O sized cables?

This is a 24V system using 2 12V 900CCA batteries set up in series.

Hi I didn't catch what size the cables are coming into the boat from the thruster. Whats the amp draw on it at 24vdc when on. Also 12 ft you stated is that from the new dinette battery location? Im guessing No mounting location under the fwd berth?Is there a relay or contactor in the setup?

No real area under fwd berth, but I am going to look again. The cables coming in are 2AWG cable. I spoke to Side Shift and they said to go 2/0 or 1/0. Yes, a contactor and remote unit. IF i can fit under the fwd berth, all the better. I did get AGM batteries. Interstate starting batteries. They recommend minimum 800 CCA. I saw 900 CCA (13.5” long) and 950 CCA (15.2” long). If under dinette, then it is the 900. Both same price too.

If there's not enough room in the berth, isn't there an access hatch to the bilge in front of the forward head? pretty sure there's room there for a battery or two. I think there is a shower sump and bilge pump in there too, I think!

Looking at that place now. Perhaps a piece of marine plywood, coated with resin and mounted between stringers in front of seacock for the head discharge? Truly this will need a bit more time in design before it goes into operations.
