Hello,
I have a 2020 C37 with a black roof. Not sure why they did it in Black. Looks nice, but gets very hot in the sun.
Is it painted or black gelcoat? I tried waxing it and it did shine up a bit. But gets dull / chalky weeks later. Suggestions?
Last, how many of you have the 4.2 TDI engine package? Just wondering how difficult is is to get a mechanic for them when needed...
Thanks!
Tony

If it turns chalky again after while, chances are it's gelcoat. You can try a more aggressive compound, might take more than one application, or for sure results, a wet sand and polish would definitely do it but it would be best to confirm it's indeed gelcoat first before you do that.

Black looks cool but definitely not the best choice for a flat hardtop on a boat during the summer. If it were mine, I would clean her up real good and have the top wrapped in a lighter color, maybe a light grey? There are hundreds of colors to chose from. This will protect the gelcoat and make cleaning a breeze not to mention it will not haze up like gelcoat.

Yup, I agree black gelcoat on a flat roof near salt water and almost new as well, almost impossible to maintain unless you have a hired crew at it almost once a week. Wet sand and polish will remove the chalky gel, lots of compounds and such, I guess not so bad on a roof , but it will return, I like the idea of a wrap or you could get it painted a lighter color which could be the most permanent option.....have a consult with a boat yard that does this type of work, there could be other options as well.....
