Bilge pumps run in the On position. Do not run in Auto. Suspected bad float switch so cut the wires to one and tied them together. Still no go.
Any thoughts?

If you have a switch with off in the middle and it's working as you described.

I suspect the 12v positive is not on the common terminal on the switch. Heres a simple diagram.

There should be a separate breaker for the "auto" position and it might not be located in the main panel. Look around your main DC power switch to see if there are additional breakers there.

You have two sets of breakers for the bilge pumps. One on the circuit breaker panel on the starboard side. There is also another set of breakers and switch’s for the bilge pumps in the bottom step at the battery selector switch.

ColRon you nailed it. It was the switches in the bottom step. One question remains: WHY?

Why what??
The location? Or why are there two? It's because the different breakers draw power from different places... one before the master switch and one after.

Why two was the question. Thanks for the clarification.
