Hello again. Got my buddy's seawold 520 windlass all freed up and operational. On the carver 3227. There is only 1 foot pedal to operate it. It is looking to me as it is only power up and gravity down. I do not see how to release it to freewheel and lower the anchor. Thank you all

Those came in two versions; one was power UP only and the other was power UP and DOWN. There should be slots on the clutch mounted on the end of the gypsy/drum where you insert a flat bar (clutch operating lever) to loosen the clutch for free fall. When you have enough rode out, you retighten the clutch and set the anchor and it will be ready when you want to retrieve using the foot switch.

BTW, there are numerous sources with parts diagrams for those. Do a google search and download for future reference. You'll see the bar/lever I'm talking about. In truth, if you don't have it on board, you could make one.

Thank you I have searched and not found operation of the 520 using the bar. I have seen a pic of the bar. Am I correct to say the bar is just to break it loose to lower and to snug up the clutch so it's ready to raise? Would the bar crank it up in the event of loss of power? Thank you

Yes and yes, though you can probably bring it up by hand easier and quicker than using the bar if it fails to operate electrically.
