Hi - I'm brand new to the forum and hope I'm in the right place for my question. I have a 2002 Carver 350 Mariner and recently the lock to the cabin door (sliding glass door) gave up the ghost. The key turns easily, but the lock mechanism is no longer moving/closing. Has anyone else ever had this issue and, if so, who could I call that could possibly repair it? I tried a locksmith and he said since the lock body is inside the channel of the sliding door, he wouldn't be able to repair it. Should I call a sliding glass door company or does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Welcome! One resource I refer to often is Greatlakesskipper. They have tons of OEM bits and pieces. Worth taking a pic of the lock and door and contacting them. Even if they don’t have it (and they might), they probably know who the maker was and possibly where to get one. Good luck!

Not sure where you have your boat, but I always thought I would rather have something stolen from the inside, than my slider smashed with no way of replacing it . If someone wants to get in they will. I leave it open and we all look out for each other.

Thank you! If I can't find anyone to do the repair, I may try that. Sadly, I'm not very mechanically inclined.

Thanks. I'm female, so it's not so much that I'm worried about something getting stolen as I am staying on it by myself. Most of the time my dockmates are on the dock but there are occasions when I'm there alone, and locking myself in provides an extra feeling of security. (I'm in Georgia btw.) I'm also trying to keep everything in working order for if/when I decide to sell it someday.

Cut a piece of wood the length of space in between the track and the door for when you are in there so the door can't be opened

calypso99, post a photo of your door lock and handle. I replaced the entire assembly ( lock, Latch and handle) on my 89 Santego a few years back. Was just 4 screws, two for the handle itself, and two for the latch assemble, really simple process. If it looks like the one I have, (iirc allen-rite still

Have you looked at SouthCo? Their website is terrible but if you send them good pics, they may be able to ID and point you in the right direction. Mine on my 406 is an 18-20 week lead-time
