Bypass sea water for head

Postby geo » April 21st, 2025, 8:21 am

Hello everyone
Had a great weekend on boat But the sea water for the toilet let's sea creatures in. Little worm like creatures that like to crawl up the inside of the toilet. I was able to keep this from my wife this time. Is there a way to hook up to the fresh water from the hose while in the dock.
Thanks in advance
Geo

Have you considered just using your onboard fresh water for flushes, check to see if you have a check valve system in your toilet for that as I remember, at least there was in the elegance toilet.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Both our heads both flush from our fresh water tank. This is stock from the factory by the way so nothing to worry about. Our Carver was setup for salt water use from Carver so closed cooling, fresh water flush and fresh and raw wash down spigots for and aft. Maybe they only started doing this in the later years? Oddly enough, the boat has never seen salt or brackish water yet.
Cheers, Hans

Take a pic if you don't see a brand label.

You can definitely do that (connect to your fresh potable water) but just need to make sure there's a proper break in the system do you can't get contamination back into the potable water.

However, another solution (maybe easier) is to just put an expendable filter inline from the seawater inlet to the heads.
