I have used Rotella plus some GM EOS for many years. Many. In all my engines other than my Benzes.
No issues.

Put me on the list of users that has used Rotella for the last 25+ years on gas engines which includes my PWC and convertible Benz SL. Never had and issue whatsoever. In fact my previous boat now has close to 2000hrs on her 357 mags and still purrs like a kitten.

As I've mentioned MANY times in the past here, I'm not a fan of using diesel oils in gasoline engines. The chemistry is different in both applications for good reason. Not having had a problem up until now using the wrong oil doesn't mean it's ok to do so, it just means the conditions so far have not caused a failure.

The oil debate is deep
Let's leave it there?

EXACTLY! Nobody's going to change their mind on what's been working for them so far. Good to put it out there none the less, thanks Tom.

Rotella or equivilant, is required for flat tappet engines, up through 1995, for the anti-wear zinc and phosphorous content.

Oils without, used in these engines, will cause excess wear and destroy the engine.

Some of the zinc had been removed from Rotella. Fkat tappets need some extra zddp.
I use the old GM EOS which you can still find on ebay.
The old ones, not in the plastic bottles, but the cardboard type.
