Ok, I have a 356, but I guess it could happen to any model. My main salon door, maybe a 1/4” thick plexiglass, has about an 8” crack at the bottom running upwards. Not causing any issues except the cosmetic appearance. How could this have happened? Will it continue to grow over time ans more importantly, where in the world would I find a replacement door? It’s not just a flat piece of plexiglass, but is shaped like an upside down “L”

Also, the door is physically hard to slide open and shut. A good shot of WD-40 does help for a couple of weeks, but what would be a better lubricant for long term use?

If that plastic is anything like the stuff i used on the race cars the crack will keep moving. The only way to stop them is to drill a small hole at the very end there presenting a round smooth hole the crack may stop at . Could have been a defect from years before at the very edge creating a stress riser point and with the temp swings and perhaps the stress from the opening issues, well you now have the result. I mean it may have been moving for quite some time and it was just not noticed till now.

Good luck man, trying to replace something like that could be some difficult.

I just recently found that bomon.com not only made many of those doors for carver, they still make and even stock quite a few. If you don’t see yours on their site, I’d email them a few pix and details and I bet they can provide or at least point you in the right direction. Btw, they also make and sell the rollers for these doors.

I used Blaster silicone spray (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Blaster-11-oz- ... be/3653299) and it worked much better than I thought it would. I think it's been more than a year now since I sprayed the tracks and the door still slides pretty easy.

Ok, just bought a can and tried it out. To be honest, doesn’t work any better than a good shot of WD-40, but WD-40 just doesn’t last very long before needing another shot. Hoping the Blaster lasts a lot longer. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just a follow up…
Had a nice chat with a gentleman at Bomon and he tells me they haven’t made doors for Carver in at least 25 years and never made the door for the 355-356. Yes, they can make a door but I would have to ship my old one to them to be replicated. A very costly, time consuming project.

Bud, he made the same suggestion, drill an 1/8” hole at the end of the crack.
