My v drive started making a horrible noise and when i pulled the dip stick the oil was burnt. Can I remove v drive while in the water? should I rebuild or buy a re manufactured? Is there a instruction manual how to remove and replace? As always, any advise is greatly appreciated. 1978 Carver voyager twin 350 crusaders.

If you end up doing it yourself, would be great to post pics and steps you took to get it out.
I don't believe there is any mystery to doing it other than disconnecting everything and muscling it out.
May want some help when reinstalling to align everything.

No reason not to rebuild unless it's found to be unsalvagable after opening it up. A rebuild or a reman is only as good as the people that did it though so do your homework. It's not brain surgery to remove but may involve an alignment when re-installing. Is this a Walter V-Drive separate from the engine?

Thanks for the reply. I believe it is a Walter directly installed to engine. Waybomb I will record and post steps. Thanks.
