Good Day All,
Hope everyone's season was a good one.

When transiting to our winter storage area, the St'bd drive seemed to be surging when placed in gear. Lifted hatches to confirm transmission engaged. When tied alongside, this was quite noticeable with engine at idle.

Was really hoping that maybe the keyway had dropped out and prop was spinning on the shaft, this was not the case as we lifted out today and the keyway was in place and there was no slippage on the shaft.

Anyone out there experience anything along these lines?.. Any suggestion would be welcome.

The engines are 350xl's.

Are you sure it was the transmission and not an engine runability issue? When this happened, did the engine sound change any and what was the tach saying? A fuel delivery problem can cause the same symptom. Did you check tranny/v-drive fluids?

Engines were running fine, no surging or faltering. We were made fast to the dock when first noticed with engine in gear, port engine shut down, so would have detected a change in engine pitch. Noticed vessel surging against the spring line, then slack off while never completely losing thrust, could tell from prop wash as well that we were having an issue. All fluid levels were good, no discolouring either. RPM above the warning criteria of 1000 rpm(Light Out).
Very soft entry into gear with a delay at times.
