Old fuel

I have a 1997 Carver 355 aft cabin...aux 30 gal fuel tank hasnt been used in couple of years...does fuel go bad and if so, should I drain or add additive? Thanks, safe boating this holiday weekend!

Fuel does go bad. You can add additives but it depends on the condition of the fuel. It shouldn't be too bad after two years but you may want to add an octane booster. Was it fresh fuel 2 years ago? Did it get some fuel conditioner added to it at the end of every season? The other thing you'll need to worry about is water in your tank from condensation. Depending on how much water there is, a water dispursant might help to break that up. That might be your biggest issue to deal with providing the tank itself is in good condition.
