Unidentified Hoses

I have some unidentified heater hoses that are laying between my port engine and port side gas tank that are zip tied together. The hoses are not attached to anything and run aft to a pvc tube next to my port engine shaft tube. Any ideas appreciated before I look further.

Did they go to the hot water heater? Hot water from a engine was plumbed to the hot water heater to keep or give you hot water while underway.

I was thinking the same thing also.

I agree......just go to where your hot water tank is and take a look there for a couple of hoses, maybe disconnected laying nearby....

That would be my guess too. Can you tell where they attach to the engine? Is one just below the thermostat and one on the top of the water (circulation) pump?

Ya I agree with above. It doesn't look like they're attached to the engine anymore though. If that's the case, they may be disconnected at the hot water heater as well. Maybe due to a bad exchanger or the tank was replaced with one that doesn't have that option. Looks like the hot water heater is in the aft cabin, likely under the bed.

The engines are raw water cooled.

If you're referring to my comment about the exchanger, I'm talking about the exchanger in the hot water heater.

I thought the engines had to be freshwater cooled for the heater hose to be routed to the engine. I did not think to look at the hot water heater for an exchanger. Thought the hose may have been original equipment for the boat, but had raw water 454 XLi's installed so they were not needed.

The exchanger is inside the tank and works with either raw or fresh water applications. A tank with this feature will typically have two connections for the exchanger and two connections for the potable water. On some units all the connectios are on the front, and on others, the exchanger connections are on the back.
