Limited RPM's

Final trip of last season on the way back to the marina my RPM's slowed while on plane (was cruising around 3200 and fell to 3000). Normally just give her a bump and good to go. When I did RPM's did not increase in spite of pushing both throttles to full and would not get above 3000. Normally when jumping up on plane I can get North of 4000 if I want to and cruise around 3100.

As it was both engines acting identical (Mercruiser 350's), I assumed maybe bad gas, filters or something related so had a complete service performed last fall.

Was out a couple weeks ago and same thing happened? Could this be sensor or electrical related?

Are you saying it's intermittent, or this is the first time you had it out and it's acting just like it did on the final cruise last year?

Do you have one gas tank, or two? Weird that you'd have two ignition problems at the same time, on two different motors.

Heh Marty, do you know if they put the laptop on the engines when they did the service to check things ?

Yeah I requested the marine techs to run to code scanner when summarizing, but to say our marina is a bit of a gong show is an understatement. I ended up first trip out with a dysfunctional generator as the impeller was fried after they summarize everything and they gave me no notice....only found out once on the hook... Just received the invoice for summarizing and to my surprise no engine scan was completed....although they did charge me for connecting my battery's and I did that myself..... good times!

It is almost impossible to find a good marine tech these days, unless you are in Florida with a million dollar plus boat.

Most of the good techs moved to the money after 2008 when local marinas couldn't or wouldn't pay them good wages year round.

Cant blame them.

No nothing yet...I have to have the techs scan the engines to see if there are any codes. Was out last weekend with no issues what so ever though.
