Alternator Replacement

My attempt to upgrade my system to Balmer's was a failure do to mainly the high cost. So now I'm going down the path of installing new DELCO MARINE ALTERNATOR CRUSADER OMC 1981-1987 ONE WIRE HOOK-UP 105 AMP and upgrading the wiring.

The issue I'm having is what to do with the yellow wire coming from the boat to the alternator? The previous alternator had a clip plug, but as the name implies...the 1 wire alternator only has the output terminal.

Where do I connect the yellow wire coming from the boat?

1988 Carver 3807, 454 Crusader's

Thanks,

-Dale

Try checking voltage on that yellow wire with ignition Off and On (not in start). If it only has power with ignition in On position C
chances are that's an Energize/Field wire that was needed by the original Alt. You should be able to just cap and secure it with the new Alt because they are self energizing and regulated.
