Does anyone know how to verify a surveyor's report to verify an " Failed Induced misfire test" on a 2008 8.1 Crusader, Captains Choice, cylinder #7? I was not there when the test was performed but the engine runs smoothly.
What is the procedure? What equipment is used?

Could be Rinda diagnostic equipment.

Could have used diagnostic software or manually pulling one plug wire at a time to see if performance changes, it should. If it doesn't, that indicates the cylinder wasn't firing to begin with. Under the right conditions, it could be a very subtle change and it might seem like the engine is running properly but it's not. Could be a fuel delivery issue, an ignition problem, electrical, or mechanical. Do you hear any chatter from the transmission while it's running?

Maybe there is something in the ecu memory, hard to say.

I agree , really the only tell to smooth running is under some load for the most part....I wonder the reason for deciding to do this test in the first place.

I had the the whole boat surveyed due to the insurance company's demand due to it age.
The motor survey was part of the deal.
All electrical functions on the 2008 Crusader 8.1engine were tested and "no faults were found" as commented on the report.
If the cylinder was easy to get to I would do a compression or leak down test. I haven't driven the boat this season yet but I'm not sure what to do at this time.

Well, I'd start by making sure you're getting a spark at that cylinder. Use a marine approved spark tester, or a timing light on that plug wire will tell you if that wire is firing but it won't tell you if the plug is firing properly. Check for spark first then go from there.

How long ago was the last ignition tune up?
