I have Volvo Diesels in my 2005 44 MY and I keep getting a white powder built up in my Racor Filter Bowls. any ideas? once this occurs, I cant get enough fuel to reach cruise rpms.
Also, what size filters should I use? I replaced the first set which were 30 micron but im thinking of going to 10 micron. any reason this is a bad idea?

Nothing wrong with going to a 10 mic but it will clog faster.

I have been using the 10 micron variety, no issues on my setup. You did not mention which filters you have or your engines however I will assume Volvo D6 370's like I have. Here is where I purchase my filters.

Sulfur residue or fuel additive residue maybe. Could be someone got some high sulfur fuel somewhere?

Wouldn't sulfur residue be yellowish? I was thinking more like an aluminum oxide from the tanks.

Aluminum oxide from the tanks is a good possibility.
