The other thing that I started doing is taking any squirt bottles and pulling the squirt top out and squiring it until there's no liquid inside. This is for cleaners and spider killer and stuff like that. If it freezes in the squirt top it will crack and no longer work very well.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. It has been very helpful.
On another note, does anyone remove the curtains in the stateroom and salon? Do they require cleaning, etc?
This is my first experience with this type of boating and your insights are terrific.

All of the curtains etc can be cleaned, follow the cleaning info in your manual, but be aware that all the plastic thingamabobs and doodads are old and get brittle so be prepared for some repairs if you attempt this, as usual finding the replacements is usually difficult but can be done. With yours being an 05 you may fair well.......... :beergood:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

We don't remove or clean the curtains every year, only every few years or so. You do have to be careful not to have them shrink if you clean them. My first set did shrink.

I have used a room dehumidifier for a number of years.
Its a home type unite for large rooms.
I have the water exit tube either going to the shower drain or down the galley sink.
Keeps humidity at 35 to 37%, even while in a wet slip.

Great idea SanJuan, but unfortunately it wont work in our area, it gets to cold. The humidifier and the drain would freeze.

A couple of tricks....

Anywhere that you fear moisture or dampness - grab a large turkey tray at the dollar store. While you are there buy a big box of "fresh scent' powdered laundry soap. Place the turkey tray on the floor in the area that you think will grab the most moisture. Level the turkey tray with the powdered laundry soap. The soap will work over the off season and draw all of the moisture into the tray - the powder will swell like a cake. Bonus is that your boat will smell like fresh laundry in the summer. I put 3 of these in my boat every year.

Second, you can buy those anti-damp kits at the dollar store. I just purchased 15 of them for $1.25 each. Your marina probably sells them for $15.
