Every boat is different. The sailboat I used to have....I'd lose my prime just running the boat over to the fuel dock and back. Eventually, I learned to close my thru hull before leaving my slip.
My last boat was like that. I had a 99 Bayliner 3055 Ciera. Unfortunately the seawater pump was mounted way above the waterline. I learned the 1st season to close off the intake seacock whenever I was going to head out. Same thing when the boat was pulled for rack storage. Repriming that pump was a bear.
