Gas fume detector goes off after idling for a while

Anything related to the operation of your boat. Steering, Bilge Pumps, thru-hulls, bottom paint, etc.

Dirty flame arrestors will also cause the engine to run much richer, meaning there's unburned gas in the exhaust. Any exhaust or crank fumes getting into the engine compartment would then be much more likely to set off the detector.
