If you install a unit like midnightsun's, shore water pressure should not be an issue as that unit has a built in pressure valve and check valve.

One thing one should always remember is to shut off the shore water supply when leaving the boat. I can go back many years and remember calling the marina to shut the tap off as I remembered when I got home, nowadays it is impossible for me to forget since it is second nature now.

If this is left on and a line breaks, there will be and endless supply of water entering your boat!!. On the other hand, the water pressure pump from the potable water tank can only dump as much water as you have in your tank so not a sinking issue if this is forgotten on.
Cheers, Hans

While those dockside water connections are good to have ....really, it is easy to fill the on board tank and use it...that way the tank stays fresh etc and no worry about the dock line......I very rarely used those even though all our boats had them.
Maybe quieter, no pump running, flow may be a bit higher. Still it was no bother to fill the tank and when we visited I knew what water we had......just my old guys opinion, the same old guy that would have walked right past the shut off on the dock.... :-D
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
