Jabsco has changed/discontinued things over the years. The spotlight that has a dual switch for flood or spot only exists on the much larger version they offer along with the fancy controller that was once on the smaller model like I have on my boat. Ended up returning the unit since it was way too big to fit the original area and the mounting holes were way off. This is what I ordered initially, looks the same and the controller is the same as on my boat. $600 US by the way.
Ended up buying a knock off unit that luckily has the same footprint and therefor the mounting holes match perfectly. Paid $139CAD for the unit and may use the supplied controller that comes with it. I say may because if it does not cover up the existing holes when the original is removed I will keep the original. Only downside to the controller I can see is one would not know if it is on or off. Then again one is supposed to keep the spotlight pointed towards the rear of the boat as one can now see if it is inadvertently left on. The controller has a soft greenish backlight glow which is really nice and will come in handy.
I will use the existing wiring as it would be impossible to replace with the new not to mention the new wiring would not be long enough anyway. Will need to splice the old connector onto the new wiring which is not difficult at all. The 4 small wires are for rotation and up down movement the thick black is ground and the remaining 2 are positives for spot or flood selection. Since this new light only offers on or off I will simply tie the flood/spot wires together which will also ensure the wire will easily handle the increased wattage from 50w to 100 on the new light.
Did a quick bench test of the unit which worked very well.
Here is a comparison of the new and old light. As can be seen it is difficult to tell them apart. Several hundred dollars cheaper than the Jabsco unit, nicer controller and double the light output. The photo may look like there is a size difference however they are really identical in every way.
