Switch a working one into its position.

I swapped the lower working lower port tach with the non working upper port tach last year. Now, the swapped upper tach isn’t working, so I’ll swap the working lower starboard tach to the upper helm and see how long that one lasts. But, now I’ll have no working tachs at tye lower helm, but that’s OK.

Well, I swapped the working tach from the lower station to the upper station and it works fine, so it has to be a problem with the tachs. I guess that I’ll just replace both lower station tachs with some aftermarket tachs.
Thanks for the advice fellas!

I’m having the same issues but on my 3297
Both tachs are reading all over the map and my old sync reads 0 on starboard and incorrect on port
I can’t find the issue but I believe it may be a bad ground?
Would the feed be from the alternator or coil?
What’s the best aftermarket replacement as this stuff is very old

If the needle moved randomly, go to the back of the tach. You will see a small screw for selecting 4, 6, or 8 cylinders. Gently move it back and forth a bunch of times. It may fix the wandering k indications. Corrosion builds up on the little switch and exercising it sometimes cleans the corrosion off.
