Source of the post Buster - once again thank you for the reply! interesting hopefully my 506 has the same, just pull up the carpet and pray there is a cut out for the floor to get tot he sum pump. AC unit is behind the opposite wall (not under the bed)

We spent many years on the lower Potomac, within sight of the bay. A couple years ago, we moved our boat to our son’s cottage on Gwynn’s Island, just across the Piankatank from Deltaville.

Buster53, not yet. I had to go way for son Basketball tournament. Hoping to get to it this weekend, praying its just my sump pump not working.

I was able to get to the boat, I ripped up my carpet and i dont have access (ARGH!!) to my sump pump to change the pump. Looks like i am going to have to cut a hatch opening to get to it. I tried to get to it from the side but was unable to.

1st picture i outlined in yellow where i need to cut a hatch.

Anyone else with a 506 cut a hatch? did you use a oscillating tool?

need to get this figured out before it gets worse.

I'd be surprised if you had to cut anything to access the pump. Are you sure that's the pump and not just a grey water tank?

yes its the grey water tank but pump in there is not pumping/working

had to replace my front grey water tank pump. same situation but the PO cut a hatch. the hatch is definitely not from Carver

Are you saying there is a pump in that tank ? I can't see if there is an overboard discharge hose.....seems there should have been access for a maintenance item, if so well just disappointing....good luck man, but is the water/leak you are having trouble not just clear water I thought.

Certainly a puzzle.

Hey, I understand Carver was never a high end boat builder, but I find it hard to believe that any boat builder would install anything as important as a pump that is not accessible. Somewhat related, but I was doing some digging in my boat just the other day and I found a couple access panels I didn’t know I had. Keep searching. I found mine in the bottom and back of a couple of cabinets.
A couple years ago, I had to replace my onboard water pump. It was VERY difficult to reach and it took the better part of 2 hours to do the job, but I did.

Same here. When I first got my last boat, I spent the first few weeks going through every inch of that boat. Found a bunch of access panels and though it was cool where they put them (in unobtrusive places and hard to notice). YEARS later - like FOUR or more, I stumbled on several more access panels that I hadn't ever noticed. I did end up needing a couple of them when I eventually replaced all the potable lines. They made that work so much easier!
