Project started, ripped of some of the carpeting. started with entrance stairs and dining area. dining area was glued down with staples at edging. Have not decided on floor coloring yet on planks. Its obvious though I have re-cut new hatch as the original will be small with carpet removed and crappy edging they had put up around to be able to stable carpet to. So of I go to buy marine plywood. I will be replacing all hatches (need to make them all slightly bigger to compensate carpet thickness. However any ideas on whether I can lay LVT adhesive over what is already there? I hope I do not need to take off old adhesive :(

Good start! I believe Armstrong S-750 adhesive can go over most other adhesives, even the nasty old black cut back, so long as the surface is smooth.

Thanks tom, will consider this. I may do some light sending. the existing glue is on fiberglass parts only lucky. Also after checking out the marine plywood for hatches, realized hard to find in my area, also pretty expensive, so I will re-use what I have by adding edges to them to compensate for carpet thickness that I have removed.

For the interior of the boat, I wouldn't be afraid to use good exterior sanded plywood for the subfloor.

+1
Non marine ply will do however it usually has fewer laminates so it tends not to be as stiff for the same thickness of marine ply. If you find after cutting it that there is more give than before when you walk on the piece, you can try encapsulating the cover with a couple of coats of epoxy. That should stiffen it up a bit without increasing the thickness much.

I got some real nice plywood one time at a Habitat outlet. It was cabinet sides. Bought a used cabinet for 20 bucks and I had 12 square feet of beautiful plywood, very much unlike what is found at a Hone Depot etal.
Thanks
