Here in Quebec they are now encouraging business to stay open with a small crew just to keep things running so to say and take the burden of unemployment away from governmental help. Point is it is not unlawful to run a small crew even if you are not on the essential list. Not saying they should fully staff them or provide service but maybe just get the water and electrical going so at least we can tie up and do what we normally do. I am sure there will be some full service marinas serving fuel as this is probably part of the essentials. Time will tell as to what happens, hopefully the boating season is not lost.
Cheers, Hans

I guess it is pretty much the same story everywhere. Our marina management has made it perfectly clear they do not anyone on the property till things settle down a bit. I am looking forward to a May 9th splash date, but we will have to play it by ear.

My daughter is a surgical nurse at our area hospital and they have cancelled all elective surgery and have turned the operating rooms into ICU's. They have not seen a surge as of yet and the ER is surprising quiet. Let's hope they have gotten a head start on all of this here in Canada. I feel for our friends to the south who are facing unprecedented challenges.

No need to take any risks at this early stage. I just hope all of you look after yourselves and stay safe. We shall overcome this and live to boat again.

Last Friday I was down at my marina. Not a soul in sight. Not sure if they are closed but there was no one around. Will try to get down there sometime next week. If they are open I will start prepping to launch ASAP.

I am ready to go. 6 weeks early, but ready to splash at a moment's notice. Just one boat in front of me, but not an issue at all. As long as they don't close down the launches. 8-) er

In Rhode Island, if you are not a Rhode Island resident, you have to quarantine for 14 days if you come into the state. That means if you come from another state to work on your boat you must stay on the boat in quarantine for 14 days and fly a quarantine flag. If you break the quarantine you could get arrested. :banghead:

Marinas deemed non essential here in NY the other day. Marinas closed till May 01st at this point. Closed all launches too!

Some marina's here are closed. Our Governors latest stay at home order states that motorboating is not allowed. Canoeing or kayaking is allowed but no boats with motors at least through April 30th.

Kinda sucks.

I think it's crazy they're not allowed to operate, seeing as they could still comply with the "social distancing" goals. I wouldn't mind as much if I could still get out there and get some projects done on the boat, but they've locked down and not letting anyone on site either, except for their security guys.

Part of the problem here was the few launch ramps that were open in my area were jammed with fishermen out on Lake Erie and the Detroit River. A couple of Fridays ago I drove down to one of the ramps and they were full up. No one was observing social distancing so in many ways they brought it upon themselves.

There was a line up of boats waiting to launch and a line up of boats in the water waiting to retrieve. Hopefully this Covid 19 situation eases shortly. I want to launch and get my boat in.

May 9th splash date cancelled. Marina closed till further notice. Premier of the Province, just extended the lockdown for another 28 days, till mid May. All ramps in Ontario are closed and being monitored by the by-law folks in each Region. :banghead:

I would love to go up and just work on my boat, but marina doesn't want anyone on the property. So here i sit shopping on eBay and Amazon for boat stuff and it is getting expensive, especially eBay with the US dollar so high compared to our CDN, so just adding stuff to the watch list till things settle down.

We are all pretty much in the same boat, sort a speak.

Greg
