Throttle Replacement Carver 27' Santego

Postby PhotoHog » March 30th, 2015, 2:38 pm

I am looking at changing my throttle set and cables this spring before my 1987 Santego 27' goes in the water. From my research it looks like the Teleflex CH7800 control W/tilt,trim on handle is the best choice for a throttle set.

Has anyone here done the replacement themselves?

What length of cables would I need to purchase for the replacement.

The boat is currently out of the water and I was looking at doing this before I put her back in in mid-may.

Thanks

If you have the owners manual, it states what cables were used for each engine option. I know Vovlos used different cable lengths than Mercs, and I don't really know what size they would be. They also should be labelled on the end of the cable jacket...either end really, but usually not the control end.

Thanks - I don't have original manuals and the PDFs that I have found don't contain the cable specs.

Unfortunately access to the boat to check the size of the cables is not possible for a few weeks, she is locked in a compound that will not open until mid-May and I was hoping to order them to have on hand as soon as we can get access.

Give the service department at Carver a call with your hull number...they should be able to help you out. I always talk to Bret Temple...really good guy!
