First boat! 89 Montego 2157

Postby IAmNotSunshine » March 23rd, 2017, 6:23 pm

Whew, where to start! So right now I'm living out in the middle of the pacific ocean in the Marshall Islands, and I bought a boat back in Idaho where I came from! Can't wait to get back home this summer and go boating on the American Falls Reservoir. One day we hope to move to WA, or OR and settle down. My wife teaches collage math, and I'm happy to be a retired stay at home dad for our 3yr old daughter. I bought the boat from my cousin with out even ever seeing it... lol, hope that works out for me. I just know he's a clean freak, and never really took it out. It's a 21' foot Carver Montego 2157. The hull# is CDRB5095J889, and unlike a car, I can't seem to find a tool that will tell me more about the boat from he number, So I have no idea what kinda motor it has, how much fuel it can hold. All I really have is a few photos and that's it. I will be going back to Idaho in 2 months, so I'm trying to learn all I can before I get back and hit the water. I know the boats huge, but I wounder how sea worthy it will be, if at all. I know that it's a great boat for the lake, but what about the big open ocean? How far can you travel on a tank of gas. So many things to learn. I've been checking out about taking some boating courses because I really don't know anything about the water, and that can kill. So Hi! My name is Kevin
