Tick Off My List

Postby Kolbrit » December 30th, 2019, 5:07 pm

Currently have 84 3227 Carver Convertible.
What would you recommend for model to tick off my list?

Storage
Standing Main State Room
Walk around bed
Diesels
Dual Helms
Free standing shower
Deal breaker wife wants a bath tub.

To the Carver forum what Model would take care of my wish list and then some? And size?

My shed will hold 46’ OAL x 16’ Beam x 22-24’ Height

An idea of the type of budget you're thinking of might help the guys throw appropriate recommendations your way. Sky's the limit but an earlier model such as the 3607 may be a starting point size wise if a bath tub is a must. If you want to keep boating, you better keep her happy ;-)

When we were last looking, I believe it was the Cruisers Yachts that had bathtubs in many models.

For budget I would be comfortable at the $80-90k, with $20k for upgrades. This would have to fill most of our needs, and that damn tub throws a wrench into boat shopping. I may have to twist my way out of the tub... Viper the 3607 does have a great layout....
I have always like most people always stare gazed at the next boat pulling up to fuel dock, or late afternoon as boats are coming into to an anchorage. And saying I’m so lucky to be able to afford this life or better yet pull it off... So I haven’t given up on my 3227, I just have to justify the $20-30k engine upgrade if needs be. I guess if the right boat popped up I may spend some of the kids inheritance. The boat well deserves the upgrade, there is a lot of boat left. I have decide if I want to hold the helm for at least 5 yrs to enjoy some of that money. We are a younger empty nest couple with a lot more time on our hands, so a more live aboard boat might be the way we should be looking.

How does everyone like a single upper helm only boat? There is so many out there for sale especially back East, the plus you get is the living space I am assuming. I struggle with the idea being separate from your main area of your boat while cruising. For us on the West Coast on those dreary wet days I love being in the warmth of the main saloon with wife and company as we put to the next anchorage.

In my opinion , for where you are boating ...A pilothouse style boat would fit your target , just may have to up the budget a touch... :-D
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Carver 405 will fit all but tub. Also. Steps up from swim platform is very nice compared to a ladder

Thanks bud37, you nailed the style. As for my kids sorry I ran out of money... but to be honest for my wife and family the pilot house would be perfect and for me too. Soooo my hopes are still the 3227 isn’t on the verge of a double bypass and I pass it on to another great family that will keep her spirit alive! I will be back Feb20 to fabulate her Hearts and check her vitals... I sure hope it goes well!! I really like the boat or am attached.....
I’m not sure if it’s just me but do boats have spirits or can they here us talk! That worries me if your talking of doing away with her..... kinda like a marriage....!

When we were looking, the Cruisers 3750/375 really caught my eye. I liked it better than the 356 I ended up buying, but there were none in my area that were as nice as the 356 I bought. It did have a tub, but no dual helm.

That's not so much a deal breaker, depending on how 'new' you want to go. The 3607 has a tub! ;)
