-Temp gauge...so, what is it?

Hi all, we recently purchased a new to us 1987 4207 and we're getting close to DONE on this ol', beautiful girl!
BTW, when we're "done" (which you all know never really happens...we'll post our progress album, it's extensive!)

Anyway, we're upgrading all of our gauges to the Faria Newport SS series.

And, when I am looking at the temp gauge, I see there's two (2) options to choose from
1) Water temp
2) Cylinder head temp

Which one am I buying??

Never seen a cylinder head temp gauge on a boat then again water temp does sound strange. You want a gauge that will measure engine temp.

You want water/coolant temp, Cylinder head temp gauge is usually for outboards and hi performance applications.

It seems just based on the two friendly folks that responded thus far this might be an interesting question. I'll do my best to help further articulate this question by saying that if you look at any site that sells Faria Newport SS gauges...they do indeed have one for "cylinder head temp" and one for "water temp".
Hence my inquiry...!
Maybe a mechanic would know better?

Odd way to name an engine temp gauge but the 100-275° makes perfect sense.

Yup agreed. Personally I have never seen a cylinder head temp gauge. That's a new one for me today!

For those interested, a cylinder head temp gauge is something used normally on air cooled engines since there is no water to measure. I installed one way back when I had a Corvair engine in a dune buggy. Those were horizontally opposed air cooled engines. Mine was pushing 180hp when I was done with all the modifications. Unfortunately in Canada things get sticky when it comes to putting plates on them to make them road legal.

I am new to the Carver Lifestyle and found the Satellite TV antiquated. I have WiFi at the dock provided by the marina but did not want to pay for a TV only service while on the lake. I thought a hotspot would fix my issue with boat network issues i.e. stereo, cameras, weather systems, etc. so AT&T sold me a device for $450 and with my AARP discount is $20 per month for full-time unlimited data. I know you folks who are out away from shore on the ocean have a different problem, but this solves all sorts of stuff for me.
I can sell my Arch mounted TV system for $2500 and add a whole boat HD broadcast antenna for $100 then stream anything else with my current subscriptions. Not to mention music services. Hope someone gets some hints from this.
