Head fans - Carver 466 MY 2001

Postby PNGTaubada » April 27th, 2014, 11:16 pm

Hi, my head fans do not work. Does anybody know how to get to them - perhaps need de-dusting, not sure. I have tried the switches and taken the mirror off the ceiling in the aft head. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Are you sure the breaker in the 12volt panel is on?

Mine is also not working, but is in the 3rd stateroom head, I'm going to pull it apart this weekend. I am thinking the motor is seized.

Hey Lyndon,
I have the same problem in my 2000 Carver 506. Did you ever find the head fan motor in the third cabin?

I haven't had the chance to pull it apart, but it doesn't look like its going to be a fun job. I'm going to pull the vent cover on the port side and see if I can see inside. The only other possible access port is behind the panel in the 3rd statetoom closet (where the head filter is). You may be able to reach up and into the space above the head. I'll let you know as soon as I dig into it.

I still haven't found out how to get to the head fans in MY 466. When I turn the breakers on at the circuit board they trip. And there is a switch in each head and I have tested those for current and they are alive when I break the circuit. So it must be the fans themselves but cannot figure out how to get to them. If anyone knows how I would be grateful.

I still haven't got around to replacing mine, but I'm on holidays now so will tackle it. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Hi Guys , On my 456 , I have two fans, one in each head compartment.
In the Aft head compartment , I have a removable panel in a cupboard above the head, the exhaust fan is easily accessible .
For the Forward head compartment , the fan is accessible through an access panel in the Salon on the Starboard side. I have to remove my couch backrest to get access to the panel.

Both of my Head compartments are on the Starboard side.

Its a 2000 and both fans are working well.
I hope this helps.
