2002 396 Fresh Water system Leak

Postby TedNorin » June 21st, 2014, 2:50 pm

Does anyone have some repair tips to repair a leak on the Fresh Water Wash Down on the swim platform, leak seems to be on of the lines or a fitting. Since this normally would be an easy repair, but the location of the lines are inside the swim platform. Looking for a any feedback on how to access this area.

Thanks,

Ted Norin

Is your washdown built into the side of the curved steps from the platform to the aft deck? On my 506 I can pull the wardrobe drawers out on the stern from the master stateroom to get at all of that plumbing.

Thanks for your reply. The 396 also has the plumbing and electrical housed in the steps.( poor design ) I was able to remove the night stand that's between the bed and the aft bulk head which has an access panel. This did allow me access to all the plumbing and electrical. There was ample room to make any repairs. The leak was caused by the shore water inlet/regulator.
