1988 3227 kohler gen question

Which cylinder is number 1? The end with the pulleys or the end with the control box thank you beyond measure

Cylinder 1 is almost always the one closest to the accessories end of the motor, not the power end. There's probably a few exceptions out there, but offhand I can't think of one.

It would be a great help if you posted the model information, otherwise we're just guessing. Typically number one will be the front of the engine which is usually the end with the pulleys, belt, water pump, etc.
