Raw water strainer maintenance

Anything related to the operation of your boat. Steering, Bilge Pumps, thru-hulls, bottom paint, etc.

Raw water strainer maintenance

My boat is used in salt water full time. How often is it recommended to check/clean raw water strainer?

And more importantly what tool are you using to open it? Some type of spanner wrench but I am having trouble finding one. Any suggestions?

It really depends on where you boat, if there is a lot of grass in the water for example. Check it every week or two until you get an idea of how often you need to clean them.
