View the latest post Lighting for your boat/Led's
- Posted by: Seif911 » May 3rd, 2013, 10:10 am
- Forum: Electrical
Good morning all,
Have any of you modified or added lighting to your yachts? I had some on my radar arch and maybe 1 in the cockpit. It is way under-lighted. I dug all around the Internet looking for waterproof lights but they all seem very expensive until....I found the led's. It appears that you can make your boat very cool at night with these led lights at a relatively cheap cost. We'll see if it works out.
I just ordered 17 very small LEDs ( a combo of 4 each fused together) and 3 bigger flood lights. I am putting 2 floods in the radar arch and 1 in the cockpit. All of the other LEDs I am putting in the gunwales, the engine compartment, the storage boxes, the radar arch, the cockpit, and around the bridge.

- Forum: General Boating Discussion
Good Morning All,
I am in the process of getting my boat documented with the USCG. They said it was already documented and the number should be posted somewhere in the boat. I cannot figure out where it is. Does anybody have any idea where to look? They did give me the number but I want to make sure it is posted somewhere within.
Also, for documentation, you have to give the name and hailing port of the boat. This would be the key time to rename the boat, if I want to. Where do you go to get the name painted on your boat? I can't seem to find any places that will do it. Has anybody used the vinyl decals for your boat name? Any suggestions on where to buy that?
Thanks,
Steve

Hey all,
My boat is officially in it's slip. Yay!!! I see the water stains on the inside wood from the windows leaking. I spent a few hours digging out the gook out of the windows tracks and weep holes. They are still a little dirty and will probably need some scrubbing but I should be in better shape. What else do I need to do with these windows?
Do I need to caulk the tracks to the wood? What do you seal the weep holes with? Should I put a few dabs of paint in the holes or maybe jam some silicone in there? Am I better off pulling the inside wood off and maybe removing the tracks, clean them up and then recalls them back in?
They are not like the tracks I have seen others talk about. They are basically 2 slots of plastic. Anybody know where I can buy new tracks? That'd be nice to just replace them. I am afraid to pull them out. I am sure the plastic is brittle.

Hello everyone...I will be taking delivery of my new (to me) 81 3007 Aft cabin this weekend. Very nice little boat... Right now it is Marina Del Rey and I will be cruising her down to Huntington Harbor a week later.
This will be my 7th boat, but first Carver. I am moving up from a Bayliner 2850 Contessa (which is now for sale btw...). My first with Ford engines, I am used to Chevys...
Anything I should be on the look out for? Are they prone to any problems or weirdness?
I have always been active on the Bayliner forums, and it would be cool if this one would build up. I learn a lot from other people, which can save tons of money and headaches as we deal with our older boats.
Anyway, all feedback and advice are appreciated...like I said I am an experienced boater, but new to Carver...hope to interact with you all soon...
Dan

Does anyone know where to buy plumbing parts (elbows, supply lines) for a 1997 Carver 455? The local plumbing supply has no idea!

Good Morning All,
When I looked at the boat on Monday, I found a little device that said microadjust. It was just in front of the steering wheel. Any ideas what the could be for? It had 3 or 4 lights and a little switch.
Thanks,
Steve

Good Morning All,
Has anybody mounted a rear view camera in the cockpit area? I was just curious. It seems like a good idea. You could watch the fishing poles and when you back into the slip, it may assist in your vision there.
Thanks,
Steve

Good Morning All,
My Carver only has bridge controls for driving, not complaining. Obviously I will be mounting my Humminbird 898 Side Imaging locator at this location. My question is that am sure that there will be people watching the poles in the cockpit and they would like a radar too
What would everyone suggest? If I get another 898, one is that it will be super expensive but also I think it only goes to one or the other when sharing transducers. So does that lead me to getting just a cheaper locator that has a transducer off the stern? Thoughts?
Thanks,
Steve
