Carver 1/8" or 3/16" SS cable swage tool

Postby dsolo » February 21st, 2017, 9:07 am

I will be finishing up replacing all the SS/PVC life lines on the 405 Carver. Bought the swage toggle terminals, swage studs and PVC SS cable from BOSUN Supply.
I bought the swage tool and can make it available to anyone wanting to crimp 1/8" or 3/16" cable. Not sure if I will use it again? Only ask it get sent back after use. Dan

I may take you up on that. I've been wanting to replace these parts with new. Do you mind posting what you used?

Below are listed the BOSUN Supply item codes:

S0708-0307, SS wire PVC 316, 7x7, 1/8"x1/4". 37'

S0737-H003, SS hand Swage toggle terminals 1/8" 8ea

S0732-H0703, SS hand Swage Stud 1/8" wire LH. 8ea

The left handed treaded stud threads into your existing spring clasps. Saves a lot money if you can reuse them.

Cable is $.83 per foot.
Toggle terminals are $9.44 EA
Studs are 6.75 EA

The swage tool is held in vice and has two grade 8 bolts between two jaws. Insert terminal into jaws, cable into terminal, ratchet bolts to close jaws and form crimp on terminal. Rotate terminal 180 degrees and I crimped each terminal 4 times alternating each crimp 180 degrees. Better looking than the factory crimps.

Your more than welcome to the tool.

g36, I also have the SS cutting tool for the cable. You will need it also if you decide to go with the project. No problem sending both.

Previous lines were brown and cracked from years of sun and handling. Need to treat with a good vinyl protection. Looking forward to getting them installed. Also replaced windshield canvas, Maxwell foot switch covers, and swim ladder hand grip. Canvas overall has a couple good years left.
