The strainer is attached to the inlet of the water pump.

Pha8 wrote:Source of the post I have a Shurflo 2088-712-244 water pump with a Shurflo water strainer 252-3. When the pump, pumps water, the lid lifts and water spills out the top. I tightened it as much as the lid will go before the plastic piece stops it and still leaks?? The rubber gasket looks to be in good condition. I cannot seem to find a new replacement lid and was wondering if their is a newer model available or if I should just replace the pump with a simular model?

Sooooo the replacement strainer will not work because it has a barbed end on one side and the wrong size diameter female fitting on the inlet side. I do not want to add any more fittings or connections, so I would much rather just replace the pump and strainer to a newer style with a more universal connection type. Any suggestions on brands and comparable models to what is currently in place?

I completely understand that however how does one explain it gets pressurized when it is on the suction side which is why I am confused.
There are several pumps out there and you will get many recommendations. Shurflo and Jabsco are the big names however I have had very good luck with this one. https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Water-Pump/ ... E57FR.html
