Carver 346 fuel transfer

Carver 346 fuel transfer

2002 Carver 346
Is their a way to transfer fuel from the STBD tank to the Port tank? Not seeing any switches or pumps?

If your boat is gas powered then I seriously doubt there will be a pump and hoses factory installed to do that. That was generally a diesel option for safety reasons.

Do you have some valves that allow lets say, the port engine to pull fuel from the starboard fuel tank or does each engine just pull from it respective side only ?

As mentioned, very unlikely you have a fuel transfer pump. On my 356, I do have switches I can use to pull from either of my 3 tanks (2 saddle tanks plus aux tank in the swim platform) to feed either engine, so that is a work around to even out fuel levels. Only one set in stone…the genset only pulls from the port tank, and cannot access the other 2 tanks.

6.2L Mercurisers
Cant see any valves, but maybe something hidden?

Since our boats are similar…
My fuel switches are mounted on the forward firewall in front of the port engine. Of course, it’s possible you don’t have any at all.
FWIW, I used to have a 3807 and our switches were mounted inside the hanging closet in the aft stateroom. My point…Carver was very creative in where they placed switches, valves, bilge access points, etc. and often, a search had to be made to find things.

Yes they are masters at hiding stuff. I will now have to go on an easter egg hunt.

I have your sister ship, the 366. Same boat, different floor plan. I have no fuel valves or transfers. Carver seems to have dropped that from the 33/355/356 series.

On the 3607, the fuel selector valves are underneath the lowest step going down into the salon. It hinges up for access to those valves. (the master DC power 1/2/all switch is also there). If someone didn't tell you, you'd have a heck of a time finding those, but crawling around in the engine room and following hoses and cables would give you a clue.

I'd be surprised if a boat as big as a 346 didn't have some type of fuel selection valves, even if just an on/off for each engine.

Ya I’d be surprised too if you didn’t have valves. Typically they’re on the engine compartment forward bulkhead in front of the engines, mine are in the aft stateroom closet. If they’re not obvious in the engine room, follow the fuel lines from the engines or fuel tanks as km mentioned.

You won’t have a transfer pump from factory but who knows what a previous owner might have done. If you do see one, I’d remove it because it’s not uncommon for those to leak. That’s not so bad in a diesel application but very dangerous in a gasoline one.
