Dumb question on furniture

Postby buster53 » July 18th, 2017, 4:59 pm

Regarding true aft cabin cruisers, how does the mfg get furniture into a finished boat? And afterwards, how does the owner replace furniture?
I used to have a Carver 3807 and when we bought it, we didn't like the chairs that came in the salon and wanted to replace them. Couldn't figure out how to get them off the boat...ended up breaking them up to get them out. If we had taken the twin doors off their hinges, we would have had a couple extra inches...would that have been enough to get them thru the door opening?

On our 4207, the fridge came out only after the cabin door and frame was removed. I think that was the largest thing down there.

Alternatively, I believe we could have gotten it out the cabin windows, but that would have meant lifting the fridge up and on its back, and bringing the new one in he same way.

The 2807 had nothing big to move, and it sure looked as if everything on could fit through its doors.

The 3697 has a huge sliding door; no problem there at all.
Thanks
Fred

Removing the doors on my 405 allows fridge replacement and chair removal and replacement. Just unscrew set them aside and reverse when finished no big deal

I've replaced the fridge twice on my 3607 and didn't have to remove the doors. I removed the original "couch" and just had to remove a few screws to take the back off and the rest fit through the door.

Just took the factory chair out of a 1988 3607. Had to remove the doors, the frame and the trim. With all of that removed it just fit out of the opening

I need a stable platform to carve on, while sitting. I cannot stand for carving. Usually, I'm either, half prone, or in a recliner when carving. On a good day, I can sit in a real chair, for short periods.
Any ideas?
After reading some reviews and suggestions here about chair safety, I've decided to invest in a leather (bib) apron. Just in case, since I sometimes brace close to my leg.

I recently bought a 396 Carver aft cabin. The furniture inside is beautiful.
Being curious I ask the sales guy how did thet h=det the furniture in? He said he worked for Carver assempleing Carver yachts.
He said all the furnitue comes thrrough the door but you need to remove the dor and hardware first
