Cooktop replacement

Postby darrenlife » February 8th, 2019, 8:31 am

My original Princess Ceran 3-burner cooktop has one defective burner and would like replace it with an induction cooktop. The existing cutout is 21.75” wide and 19” deep with a 120VAC input.

I’m hopeful that someone else has taken this on as I’m finding a hard time locating a comparable sized induction cooktop that is 120V. I found one un8t by True Induction but it requires two separate 15amp outlets as it has two cords and won’t operate with both cords plugged into the same duplex outlet.

I’m open to dropping in two separate cooktops however these units are typically only 15” deep.

Thanks in advance for your help.

the 19" deep is definitely a challenge. You may want to consider an adapter plate for the rear that will take up the 4 missing inches or divide it 2" front and back. This is what I used but again it is 15" deep. https://www.amazon.com/True-Induction-S2F3-Counter-Cooktop/dp/B0087OWY5A/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=inductiontop-20&linkId=b4594591a56036241404c32fdd203f63

Thanks for the replies.

I’ve decided to go with the True Induction three burner model and run another circuit to the stove. Fortunately not that big a deal, just a few hours labor and beer :beergood:

One side is 1800W (15amps) and the other side is 1500W (12.5 amps)

I’ll post once the install is complete, looking forward to getting rid of the existing unit with the rusted trim.

Have you thought of checking out a RV/camper supplier for a new cook top. They may have just what you need with less modifications.

Yes, I had visited a couple however they offered much the same as what I found online. I’m hopeful the one I bought will drop in without having to enlarge the hole, fingers crossed.

The hole is rather easy to enlarge if you need to, messy but easy. I have Corian in mine or a least something resembling it. Simply used a battery operated Skilsaw with carbide tipped blade. Worked very well. I put a tarp over myself and the stove, put on a dust mask with my wife accompanying me holding the vacuum hose following me while I cut, contained the mess to a small area and clean up was fairly easy.
