355 Aft Cabin Swim Ladder

Postby Vhubbell08 » April 27th, 2020, 3:08 pm

Hello! Has anyone attempted to replace the swim ladder on the 355 aft cabin? The ladder isn’t that great and we have small children so we are looking to put in a 4 step ladder. Also, has anyone successfully been able to put a grab handle on swim platform? Thank you!

Find a 4 step under platform ladder, mount that to a piece of SS flat stock, then mount the flat stock to the preexisting ladder holes. You will not be able to get into the swim platform to put in mew mounting plates. I have seen a pocket type handle installed in the top of the swim platform. The ladder they use today on pontoon boats would be great, but one would have to modify it to fit the back of the 355AC/MY. Search this forum, I'm sure there are some more post on this and pictures.

I had the pocket type handle on my 356 and they work great. Just make sure that you install it properly to prevent the water from getting into the core. Over time the sealants will fail and cause a moisture problem. My platform went soft around the handle due to water getting in. I didn't see it coming till it was too late.

mjk1040 has given you a great solution.

Yep the ladder sucks. I have a 405 which had same . I installed a under platform ladder which is great . I also installed ez up removable handles which make climbing up like getting out of a swimming pool when not in use just unclick them and store.. I copied this link because we discussed this a while back on another members 355. So read through this whole thing especially around page 2-3 you'll see pics and discussion on how I put the ladder on using original holes. And posted pics of the handles I put on my 405.. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4053&hilit=Handle
