VDO Rudder sensor

Postby boat36forfun » May 4th, 2020, 5:10 pm

I need to replace the VDO rudder sensor on my 85 36' Carver Mariner. Does anyone have a location that I can purchase this from. This is an odd size as well.. Thanks for any help that you can give me. See the pic below.

Looks as if you can take it apart. I'd try that first and clean everything up. Nothing to lose!
Thanks

I think their new unit is part number A2C1102950001 for single station.
Here is a link for finding a distributor:

If you open up your old one, be careful, some are oil filled.

I trust you did some diagnostics and are sure it needs replacing?

You may find you are better off replacing both the sender and the gauge, or going with a generic replacement sender for $15 on eBay:

Good advice, that link goes to the same unit I used when I upgraded my dash. Hard to see in the picture (click it for a larger view) but the centre gauge behind the steering wheel is the KUS rudder angle. The 2 white matching gauges to the left and right of the steering wheel are KUS fuel gauges and yes I have 4 tanks. :-O

Nice looking dash Hans!
Where did you get that steering wheel? Mine is getting a bit worn looking and I wouldn't mind replacing it.

Just search eBay for "boat steering wheel" There are hundreds to choose from. Not sure if the one I have is still available though. Think it was about $100. The black hood over the gauges which was cheap wrinkled vinyl was redone in faux leater with a red double stitch like you see in high end cars. :-D Yeah, dash came out real nice.
