If the out of town people followed the rules, brought all their own stuff and stayed away, it would be no problem.......but they don't, as evidenced by the store lineups, full parking lots at beer and liquor stores that have started to show before weekends. Everyone seems to think it is just them by themselves, but just do the math and multiply.

I do sympathize with all this, we too have an expensive asset sitting on the hard and a fishing runabout locked in the garage, so far we up here have virtually no virus to deal with so far. The province is only doing what the marina association has suggested to them I believe, as the association had made a lobby and presentation a while back. They ( marinas ) having their own interests in getting going, bottom line wise, no one seems to care whether I get sick or not as evidenced by the lack of a plan for us the patrons.

When people get sick up here, they go to emerg to get checked out....once there who knows what the protocol is. One thing I do know after having spent a lot of time in the hospital up here with my ageing parents.....there are no beds, period, now. There is zero capacity. So if the virus gets started here then we have a serious problem. Our little town swells to three or four times it's normal size in the season.

Sorry for the seemingly negative stuff, but this is the other side of it as I see it as a Gbay area resident.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

I get it Bud, totally see where you're coming from because we're experiencing the same thing here, and while most of us are smart and cautious Greg, I don't think I need to tell you about the idiots that are out there, they're the ones that worry me. Look, they open up beaches and what happens, total lack of respect for what's going on even though nearly 300,000 people have died worldwide with North America leading the numbers. It just doesn't seem to be sinking in with some. Unfortunately I can't tell who the idiots are so for my sake and that of my family's, I would just prefer everyone continue to stay away for now. I get that everybody is anxious to get on their boat, so am I.

It's too crowded as it is right now, we're talking line ups around buildings because they only allow so many in at a time, and that's during the week just for locals. I tried getting into our local Costco Friday night and had to turn around and go home, the lineup was the worst I've ever seen so I thought. I tried again threes times yesterday starting in the morning (Saturday) but no joy, finally got in at 7:30 pm.

How can we trust people are being smart? I mean there are "COVID PARTIES". Ya, Covid parties! :-O Have you heard about this? A party is set up for healthy people, but then they invite someone who is infected so they can all catch it in hopes of building an immunity so they can move on. I get the immunity thing but that's another thread, the problem is they then just keep spreading it to those that might not handle it as well. YA, that's the kind of mentality we live with these days, and I'm no spring chicken anymore so I trust nobody when it comes to this.

I get the primary residences on islands, no problem there, but those are very few and far between in comparison, and they're considered locals. I can also tell you that when the cottage season opens up here, never mind COVID cases, you'd be amazed at how crowed the local emerg can get on weekends just from regular antics and mishaps, which is something they really don't need right now. I've been trying to get in for a procedure since the end of Feb but can't as they are too busy dealing with this pandemic. Not that I want to be anywhere near a hospital right now but as long as beds are taken up by this infection from locals and visitors, myself and others are out of luck. Our numbers up here aren't too bad considering, and we'd like to keep it that way, more people means more cases and more spread, period.

Look, I'd like to see everyone enjoy the summer, I just hope what we do in the short term doesn't make things worse for everyone. I for one am happy to be back to work but I gotta wonder whether it's still too soon. Fingers crossed.

Today was launch day for Cooler By The Lake. Windy, cold, rough water on the bay. Froze my rear. 30 min after I get in the slip, sun came out and the wind died for about 30 min. Temp improved by 10 degrees. Started putting tops up, not fun in the cold temps. Had to leave a couple zippers open till some stretch occurs. Marina open date was just extended to May 28, instead of May 16. Only 1 other boat in marina, pretty lonely and socially distanced! Will go back on Thursday when temps are supposed to be back in the normal range. Crusaders started up like hibernating bear. Great to hear that growl again! Be smart & be safe! Let the season begin.....kind of. 8-) er

I think my date is still a few weeks away at best. It was -2 this morning which at least puts a mental damper on boating in general. When the temps start to rise I will start to get that bad itch again though. :help: The only good news I have so far is my home port Marina said it has the permission start to prepare for opening. Its a start. :pirate:

While my boat is in it's still a bit to chilly to think about heading out and our restaurants and boat clubs are still closed. Not a whole lot of places to cruise to at this time.

We had more snow last night. Nothing that accumulated but snow none the less. We are finally supposed to warm up the middle of next week with temps in the mid to upper 70's and even some 80's on the horizon. Boating days are coming.

The ramp in the park at Port Severn is open now. The one beside the Rawley Resort though is still closed as Severn Township has not opened up their ramps yet. The park however is not part of Severn Township, I believe that is the Township of Georgian Bay which has opened up more.

Shrink wrap has been removed yesterday. Heading down this week-end to install the frames for the upper and lower canvas. At least they said good news is coming Thursday!!!!
