replacement ideas for 16K btu ac on carber 356

Postby cpoint » June 10th, 2020, 9:47 pm

Hi again all.

Got lots of issues lately :) The other topic for today is replacing the original AC unit on 2000 Carver 356 (under dining seat). I found one on amazon

Looks like a good one, mine does not cool much, 12K in back room is great though. Also main cabin 16K is so noisy, much vibration, it is hard to stand for it. Anyway finally I decide to replace it. Ideally I could get same module, but may be same issues. Has anyone had any experience with the one I listed above? has anyone installed it on carver 356? I have to measure next time I go, it may be a tight fit. Anyway any feedback with any experience on this would be great.

Others on the forum have expressed they are very happy with these units as far as noise and performance. Luckily, i am still using my 1998 units and they work fine, and hopefully continue to do so.

When you replace yours, be sure you get the wiring correct. Your factory Marine Airrr units have a relay box that allows either unit to start the raw water pump. Shouldn't be a big deal, but be sure you don't pull and trash that relay box as I believe it is near your salon unit.

Those units are really quiet and perform exceptionally well. Here is a link directly to their site. https://www.marinaire.com

Thanks for that info.
