Cleaning tip needed.

Postby denpooch » August 20th, 2020, 12:32 pm

Hey folks.
My vinyl 'Captains Chair' is looking funky. The 'First Mate' chair is not as bad but not great. All other seating on the boat is pristine. (I have included 2 images..one clean and the target)
Does anyone have a suggestion for cleaning them up without damaging the surface. I have tried various approaches to no avail.
Thanks.

The best product out there that I swear by is Z-Cleaner. Once you try this you will understand. Removes all the mildew and any stain. A little bit on a magic eraser with a very light scrub and you will need to do all the vinyl as you will realize how dirt tall the rest was.   https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=3396240#

Mildew in the vinyl... :-O Try Number Nine Cleaner. If that does not work, go to OxiClean. If THAT does not work, the next step is something with bleach in it like Tilex. The bleach cleaners can damage the fabric, so try non-bleach first. Good luck!

Try Starbrite mildew stain remover. Looks like you may need a couple applications, but it works pretty well.

I use Universal Stone. It is a paste product that you lather up with a sponge that comes with the product. It will return your vinyl to a new lister. If this doesn’t take it off, nothing will. It will not harm your vinyl. The admiral uses it all the time on all different surfaces.

I used Z-Cleaner and a little magic eraser on the vinyl and it did an excellent job. I might finish off with Universal Stone as suggested by Tireless.
How about this rust stain on the shower 'frosted port light'? The rust lives by the metal window hinge. I tried FSR with no result. Wadda ya think?

Mildew remover of Marine31, I sprayed all of my seats, grabbed the brush to scrub them and the seat I sprayed first was totally clean. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with a boat or who had outside furniture that gets any mold/mildew. It is safe on most materials and is water safe so you can use it on boats that stay docked all the time and not feel bad about it getting rinsed off and killing fish.
