Speaking of closed borders..
The admiral and I tried to make our way east on the Long Island Sound, to Newport, RI.
When in Stonington, CT - with the next stop Newport, a dock mate informed us that New York State was 'pinging' the cell phones of NY residents crossing the border into Rhode Island. RI was on the 'hit list' of states that would require a mandatory 14 day quarantine for any New York resident who decided to visit the state.
We were told that people were getting text messages stating they had to fill out paperwork and would be required to quarantine.
Needless to say, we canceled our 3 day stay in Newport and diverted to Mystic, CT. Talk about 'Big Brother'!
Of course, a day later the State rescinded that mandate. I don't know whats worse: Covid 19 or a governor like Andrew Cuomo!

What do you hear now about the vaccination situation? Are all boat and yacht owners required to get vaccinated, or is it optional if they don't have a large crew? I haven't heard any information on this because I haven't been out on the water in about six months, so I'd like to find out here if I can. Tell me all you think about it. I'm about to buy a train ticket to take me to the bay with my old boat. I was already thinking of selling her because I've lost interest in her and want to buy a new one, but recently I've had a strong need to get on the water and go on some little sea voyage.

Not only scary, should be absolutely disgusting that we have "leaders" that not only consider it, but implement it.

Also scary and disgusting that someone in the government can can order/coerce/require private enterprise to provide that information to the government without any oversight. The government doesn't (shouldn't) have that info unless someone provides that to them.

I don't have my own jet ski in Germany, but I want to go on vacation and find something to rent. Perhaps you know where you can rent a jet ski or a boat there? My friend invited me to stay with him for a week when I got there. I'm very glad of such an offer! I'll buy tickets at db auskunft because I don't know any other companies from Germany anymore. This is a good company, which I have visited several times and bought train tickets to ride around German cities. This year I will go there at the end of May. I hope that the weather will be sunny. I don't like rainy trips. Maybe I'm not a romantic. But I always expect that in a new place I'll walk without an umbrella or a raincoat, you know. And riding a jet ski in a raincoat is not very cool.
