Caulking around windows

Postby rfverdery » May 19th, 2022, 9:48 pm

Recently purchased a 466. The caulking around all the front windshield is cracked and weathered. Anyone know the best product to use and the best way to remove the old. Thanks!

I had the same problem with the molding in the windshield bottom corners. The boat yard cut out the rotted molding and filled it with black sealer. Has worked fine.

Personally I wouldn't use 5200, maybe 4200 or another product but what ever you use, get a product that is UV rated.

I would use Sikaflex 291. 5200 is like a permanent bond/glue

Thank you for the responses I now have somewhere to start. Just finished removing, boiling and replacing the raw water system on both engines. Windows are next.
