1989 3207 Aft Cabin seawater pump inlet thru hull valve

Postby Chiefshack » June 7th, 2022, 7:33 pm

1989 3207 Aft cabin twin 5.7 Mercs Port seawater pump inlet.

1. Please see attached photo of port engine, the red handle thru hull connection. Is this the inlet for the seawater pump?

2. The port engine turns over clockwise when looking from aft to forward. Is this (the port engine) right hand or left hand turning.
Thank you for the help...

1: looks like it, but you should be able to follow that hose right back to the raw water pump to verify.

2: If clockwise looking at the flywheel from the rear of the engine, then that would be a reverse-rotation or right-hand. One trick to use is if you imagine wrapping your hand around the crankshaft, with your fingers going around in the direction of rotation, if your thumb points to the front of the engine. Try with both hands, only one will match and that would be the "hand" that describes the engine.
