Helm Gauge Replacement

Postby EMUNIKORN » January 6th, 2023, 10:45 am

I need to replace all (11) of my original VDO helm gauges on my '95 Carver Mariner 330 (most are faulty and unreliable, so will replace all as a set for a fresh start) and thought I would inquire of any recommendations before a direct swap out with new or for a newer technology solution or words of wisdom. Your timely reply is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Helm Gauge Replacement

I've been looking at the Veratron VMH 35 (https://veratron.com/products/vmh-35), but the 8000 rpm is unnecessary. I contacted them about an option with a 5000 or 6000 rpm limit, and they responded that we may see one later this year.

Between two of those and a flex 52 for rudder angle I should be able to replace all of the analog gauge functions. It's also a bonus that they output NMEA 2000 so I won't need a separate unit for that. I can then use either the chart plotter or a separate display for backup and lesser used functions.
