Wireless cameras for security

Anyone using wireless cameras for security? Looking more for ones that do not require a subscription.

Tony, do you want wireless for notifications on your cell phone for example? Are you hooking them up to NAV screens? Remember, unless they're have their own battery power, you still have to run a 12 volt supply wire for power.

I have 3 Arlo cameras on board. They are rock solid but there is a monthly fee. Take a look at Amazon, there are quite a few copy cats out there and many are free when it comes to monthly fees. Do get the newer style that has the wifi built into them so you do not need to plug in a base elsewhere. Something like this would work well, the free part is only 3 days of cloud storage before it disapears however for a small fee one can increase the time. I am just looking for a bit of security. Not worried about notifications. Truly wouldn’t bother me if it had a SD card. We’ve had a few issues last year and hope not to be one myself this year

Between my house and boat I have a couple different companies non subscription ip cameras. I also use ring cams at home and on the boat. My non subscriptions ones are a few years old but still work fine. I'm using amcrest ip has ptz ,sd card slot and Samsung smart cams that are stationary. Both have apps on my phone all free no monthly fees. However since I have ring at home it was really no additional cost to my subscription to add a couple to the boat. I think if your having some "issues" you might like having the ring setup or similar. Remember if the video is on a SD card instead of uploaded to the internet and the camera is taken then you've lost whatever occurred.

I thought of the camera being taken with teh card an hour after I said it. I do think the subscription is the way to go just for that purpose. I have a lot of homework to do this weekend to get this in play.

I am a little late on this reply but I have a LOREX system with which I am pretty happy.
Wireless with waterproof cameras. They have a package with the base hub and 3 cameras for about $150.00 US.
I have the app installed on my phone and can control on/off, etc. It detects both intruders and motion and notifies the user. If you have not yet purchased this may be a good option for you.

Our marina has wifi so I use Blink Cameras, you can arm them for motion.
