3467 Santego Wind Shield/Screen

Postby MichaelOKC » September 25th, 2023, 9:20 pm

The wind shield/screen on my Carver, needs a little work. It has lost some of it’s transparency, and in direct sun it is opaque. I am not sure what it is made of. Not glass, but perhaps some form of plexiglass? Is there a way to restore the clarity?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you talking about the plastic venturi around the bridge coaming ? If so consider some of the techniques to restore plastic headlight covers. Try it on a small area first and remember it is plastic.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.....

Post up some pictures of what you're dealing with and you'll probably get better responses.

You'd be amazed by how well some of the 3-step systems work on plastics to make them clear again or give them a good polish. NOVUS makes a really good set but there are others (like 3M) that are similar. If they're really bad you might consider removing the pieces and doing it rather than trying to do it in place.

I used the NOVUS system in some clear plastic portlights. They had become really translucent and I thought I was going to have to just replace them. Spent a few hours with the NOVUS stuff and they looked almost like brand new.
